Writers Circle
The Writers Circle involves weekly gatherings that take place to extend and develop the skills in talented writers under a mentorship environment.
Passion for writing, expression, articulation and imagination are invoked through discussion and composition, where many of the pieces of work will be published in a variety of mediums.
"With Darkness comes Light" by Lily Chhang (Year 10, 2022)
This world is flawed.
But from fractures comes light,
Fractures that cut you up into b i t s and pieces.
Hatred, delusions, and greed - All these we have fallen into at least once.
The abyss lies ahead before you, Unnoticed… to most
Filled with poison,
We still fall in without regret.
Regrets will come back for you,
Even if in denial,
Even with the mask
Of a victim on…
You won’t be able to escape
Stubborn to
climb
back
up,
But the silhouette of light guides.
Once equanimity shines its light,
Can we crawl into reality again?
Do this for the world. Live harmoniously. Live kindly, and
Have sympathy for our world.
"The Buffalo" by Janesa (Year 12, 2022)
Entry for Write for Fun National Poetry competition
Hooves planted deep in the snow
heavy irregular breathes
A buffalo stands firm
Her young by her side
The howls of predators pierce the air,
As wolves lurk with cunning eyes.
The child is what they want.
Greed burned in their eyes
Desire drips from their tongue
They are waiting for the mother to give in.
One after the other, they jumped
Painting the snow crimson red
Not once did she leave her calf’s side
Despite her knowing she may not survive.
She, is who I want to become
She is who I am.
