A Day in the Life of a Pal Student

Our Nurturing and Inclusive School Culture

We are creating a school culture like no other in the world - a community where every member works together to help each other develop wisdom and morality on top of academic intelligence.

Watch this video from our students to find out more:

A Training Ground for Morality

Our school recognises the value of ancient tradition and timeless humanistic values. We incorporate the Buddhist philosophy into everyday teaching to nurture virtuous behaviour and good character in our students.

Inspired by the Buddha’s Noble Eightfold Path, our school believes in imparting academic knowledge and cultivating the whole individual through wisdom, morality and diligence.

Our students learn these values by action. They engage actively in activities that challenge their capabilities, develop their leadership qualities and instil selflessness joy.

Watch this video from our principal to learn how our school is a training ground for morality:

The Spiritual Path

We are a school of scientific methodology and spirituality. We encourage our students to seek to understand both knowledge in the outer world and the inner mind.

We are not a religious school in the sense that we hold to any ideas on the basis of pure faith and mere dogma, or in the sense that we use faith as a trump-card to reason. Rather we are a school of science in its truest sense: we aim to foster in our students a love of the pursuit of truth in all domains, the material and the spiritual, the discovered as well as the undiscovered.

Master Curriculum

Our Senior Students (Year 11 and 12) are able to undertake our Master Curriculum model which allows them to complete three Higher School Certificate subjects per year across each of the two years of their senior studies.

This model is increasingly being adopted by many schools and has shown to reduce the pressure on students for their exams. There is evidence from other schools that this style of Higher School Certificate delivers improved academic results and improved student well-being.

Specifically, our Master Curriculum model has students study three HSC subjects and sit the HSC examinations in their first year, and then study the remaining three HSC subjects in Year 12 and sit the HSC examinations in their second year.

Our students have reported that this is preferable to studying a full load of six subjects over the two-year period, allowing them to focus on only three, not six, subjects for the entire year. As a result, there is also greater engagement and time to study the subjects and more consistent interaction with teachers to improve student results.

The major benefits of our Master Curriculum mode of delivery are:

  • Focused effort on three subjects in each year group helps consolidate knowledge
  • Experience of HSC process in first year improves student performance in their second year
  • School can offer wider range of subjects across the whole school
  • Master Curriculum aligns with the new Stage 6 syllabus
  • Students experience less stress due to the spread of exams over two years
  • HSC experienced older students learn to mentor the students doing the HSC for the first time
  • Increased competitive edge in the class
  • Increased school efficiency, so teachers are able to engage in development and enrichment
  • Schools using a master curriculum have reported better results in the HSC than they were achieving using the traditional model

4D Learning System

We provide authentic and personalised learning experiences for your child through our innovative 4D Learning system.

Our use of educational technology allows learning to be informative and transformative. Good practices and efficiency are integrated into a student’s life and habits. Students can learn anytime, any place and with a peer, group or teacher support.

Our teachers can monitor their students’ real time progress and provide students with instant feedback to clarify misunderstandings as soon as they arise. Through our 4D system, teachers can better understand the needs of their students and alter their lessons accordingly.

Watch the videos below to learn more about our 4D Learning system:

Our 4D Learning System Provides "Educational-Proofing" against COVID-19

Our mastery of educational technology has helped us make a seamless transition to online learning during COVID-19 lockdown.

You will never have to worry about your child's education if they are a student at Pal:

Academic Excellence at Pal

Ranked #1 in NAPLAN results for the Fairfield Region in 2019

The NAPLAN is an annual assessment for all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. It tests the types of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. The tests cover skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar, punctuation and numeracy. The assessments are undertaken every year in the second full week in May.

We are incredibly proud of our students and staff members for helping Pal Buddhist School rank 1st for the Fairfield City Region.

Early University Offers and Scholarships

Our track record has proven that our holistic education system builds well-rounded and successful individuals. Every year since our first graduating class in 2014, our students receive University Scholarships and early-offer entry to their desired University course.

Our students proceed to the top universities such as the University of New South Wales, University of Sydney and the University of Technology, Sydney, and moreover, have received leadership-based scholarships in these top universities.

The Right Action - Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA)

Our school has a strong tradition of the arts. It is one of the many ways we encourage diligence, selfless joy and the pursuit of excellence in our students. CAPA helps our students become energetic and confident while renouncing their fears and limiting beliefs.

Watch this video to learn more about the benefits of CAPA:

The Right Livelihood - School-wide Cooking Competition

The Right Livelihood is a cooking program that helps students develop four values: accountability, responsibility, respect and integrity. It is just one of the ways we help our students connect with their culture, develop right thinking and become wholesome people.

Watch this video from Pal parents and friends to learn more about the value of The Right Livelihood:

The Right Speech - School-wide Public Speaking Competition

We believe all our students can become great leaders capable of inspiring others. The Right Speech helps our students develop the wisdom and resilience to articulate their vision in an engaging manner and build their communication skills.

Watch this video from school vice-captain Cecilia to learn more about the value of The Right Speech:

Through their speeches, students develop incredible amounts of courage and confidence, two very important characteristics to have for their future success in the 21st century workforce.

The Right Effort - Sport Programs at Pal Buddhist School

Pal Buddhist School has a commitment to ambitious goal setting and the students here aspire to be the best athletes they can be. The honour of representing the School in the sporting arena is passionately pursued by our students.

We encourage all students to discover their sporting passions and talents. Students participate in a wide variety of sports each week, both competitive and non-competitive. They are encouraged to attain the highest standards both in their performances on the field and their behaviour on and off the field.

Interschool Sports

Pal Buddhist School is a member of the Association of Independent Co-Educational Schools sporting association. The aim of the association is to promote and conduct various forms of inter-school sporting activity with a view to fostering a spirit of fellowship and good sportsmanship.

The vast majority of our students take the opportunity to represent the School and compete in a variety of external sporting events.

Internal Sports Program

Our aim at Pal Buddhist School is to promote good health and fitness and to develop an understanding of competition and sportsmanship.

Our students participate in weekly sport programs and Interhouse sport competitions. We also work closely with local organisations such as Cabramatta Rugby League Club and Fairfield-Cabramatta PCYC to give our students as many opportunities to be active as possible.

Our students participate and compete in all forms of sports and physical activities - from athletics to basketball to table tennis.
