Our International Students' Intrinsic Growth at Pal
In 2018, I embarked on my journey at Pal Buddhist School during Year 8. As a reserved individual back then, everything seemed unfamiliar, as I was stepping into a new country unprepared for the diverse and unfamiliar world ahead. This transition presented numerous challenges, from struggling to forge new friendships to facing academic difficulties due to my limited proficiency in English. However, a pivotal moment arrived towards the end of Term 2 when I made the decision to join the school choir. This choice unexpectedly became one of the most transformative decisions of my life. The choir provided the nurturing space where my self-confidence flourished, and my passion for music and art took root. For the first time, I experienced a profound sense of belonging within the school community. I formed enduring bonds with individuals who shared similar experiences, believed in me, and offered unwavering support.
In Year 9, I embraced the challenge of leadership by becoming a part of the Student Representative Council (SRC) team, eventually assuming the role of school Captain. This journey enriched my understanding of communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. Furthermore, the co-curricular activities at Pal played a pivotal role in shaping my character. They instilled in me values such as responsibility, accountability, discipline, and integrity, collectively referred to as RADI by our school.
Despite the initial loneliness and the hurdles I encountered on my journey at Pal, the opportunities it presented have been instrumental in shaping the person I am today. I am profoundly grateful for my parents' decision to choose Pal Buddhist School as my educational home in Australia.

My experience as an international student at Pal Buddhist School has been instrumental in my growth, not just academically, but also morally. Pal has provided me with many opportunities to expand my horizons and discover more about myself. One of the most memorable aspects of my journey here has been the invaluable life skills I've acquired through our training grounds.
Before joining Pal Buddhist School, I was a shy and timid person who often struggled in social situations. However, my time at Pal has pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and confront these challenges head-on. As a result, I've witnessed a significant improvement in my social skills and overall confidence.
Today, I proudly serve as the school captain, a role that continually challenges me to adapt and excel in diverse situations. This opportunity not only allows me to further enhance my leadership abilities but also reinforces my commitment to personal growth and development.
My journey at Pal Buddhist School has been a remarkable transformation, and I look forward to continuing my growth and embracing new challenges on this educational path.
